Sustainable stories: In this issue we’re not just valuing our knitting, but also the fibres that go into them. Our gallery features a series of sustainable stories, including that of Chilton Grounds Farm, which sells wool from its own homegrown sheep; Town Dyer’s yarns coloured using plants dyer Emma Kylmälä grows and forages around her London home; Cornish Blacker Yarns’ British wool and bamboo blend; Stylecraft’s Special DK, now spun in Yorkshire; and many more.
So why not take a moment to boost knitting up your priority list, make a stand for eco-friendly slow fashion and really value your beloved hobby, your precious time and, quite simply, yourself.
I bought this magazine because I love the Twisted Rib Jumper by Jacinta Bowie. The jumper is described as “designed to be oversized.” However, according to information under Sizes as well as the schematic, the finished measurement for many sizes is smaller than the actual chest measurement. I am confused. Of course I know I can follow the instructions for a larger size and work out the lengths I need — but I buy a pattern in hopes that much of that work has been done for me.
Thoughts?

Dear Elizabeth
Thank you very much for your enquiry.
This garment has has positive ease on every size range. As the sizes get larger there is slightly more positive ease to keep a proportional oversized look, ranging from 10cm on the smallest size (81cm actual size to fit chest 71-75cm) to 19cm on the largest size (159cm actual size to fit chest 140-147.5cm). That is a 1cm grade in increased easement per size.
So you should be able to choose the size for your to-fit size as you had hoped.
In terms of the lengths, longer lengths are given for male body sizes and shorter ones for female body sizes.
I hope this helps but please get in touch if you have any further queries.
