Issue 273 – Out now!

Article

Meet Lydia: this issue is all about Lydia Amartey-Williams, one of the three finalists of Game of Wool, the Channel 4 TV knitting competition that took the world by storm last autumn. Lydia may already have been familiar to some of you thanks to her Ghanaian-inspired, hand-dyed yarn brand Weku Yarn, which she and sister Hannah have been taking to shows and selling online since 2021.

Weku now has a commercially-dyed addition, Bukom DK, and as well as creating an exclusive colourwork cowl design in the yarn for this edition of Knitting, Lydia agreed to come down to Sussex and model all the rest of our knits for the issue as well. You can read all about her yarn and TV journey on page 14. We also feature an interview with Mette Wendelboe Okkels, the Danish designer behind knitting sensation PetiteKnit, and take a broader look at wellness with Knit for Health and Wellness author Betsan Corkhill.
If you’re mainly here for the knits, we’re celebrating the onset of autumn – time to watch the leaves turn and fall, take long walks in woolly jumpers and spend cosy evenings with yarn, needles and a steaming hot cuppa to hand.
