My Yarn Shop

Article

mainKnitter Carole Foot loves her local yarn shop Bridport Yarn in the small market town of the same name in Dorset. Owner Rosie Shelton opened the shop six years ago, wanting to change direction after a 30-year career as a nurse. Rosie specialises in natural fibre yarns and prides herself in taking risks and sourcing international and quirky styles for her store. She says: “The store is
a big community hub with a local following and a tourist base who come and visit on their holidays.”

Rosie organises a number of workshops including beginner basics and how to fix mistakes. Carole says: “The shop is quirky, with an array of British local and fairly traded yarns among many others. “They also sell all the latest accessories, handmade buttons and embroidery threads, yarn bowls and knitting needles. “Rosie hosts workshops in knitting and crochet and also has Knit Café mornings and afternoons. She even does a loyalty card where you collect stamps. “The shop is situated on the edge of the famous Electric Palace 1920s cinema and venue, and locals and holidaymakers make a beeline for the wonderful shop.”
