Knitting editor Christine Boggis has put her best foot forward with a new book called Simply Knitted Socks.

This collection of footwear designs does exactly what it says on the tin, and is divided into three sections: quick and cosy bed sock and legwarmer designs that make great first-time forays into the world of sock knitting; super-cute baby booties perfect for last-minute gifts; and standard sock patterns exploring everything from cables to brioche and from Fairisle to lace.

All the designs were originally published in Knitting over the years, and are collected here for sock knitters old and new, along with a handy photographic techniques section that will take you from absolute beginner to advanced knitter all in one volume.
