Knitting magazine issue 212

As nights grow longer and days get colder, our thoughts turn to the joys of staying at home. Many knitters relish this time of year, when there are so many excuses for shutting the door, getting cosy and spending time with our yarn and needles. We’ve got a bumper edition packed with features this month: guest columns on everything from the Knitting & Crochet Guild’s amazing collection – which you can visit online from the comfort of your own home – through a year in the life of an English sheep farm to how to knit your own fruitbowl… and why.

This month our patterns are themed around loungewear – the sort of cosy clothes you’ll love to wear while hunkering down at home, keeping out the cold and enjoying a boxset, a podcast or just a cup of tea and a quiet moment. At this time of year more than ever our hands are drawn to the softest fibres, so you’ll find knits in baby alpaca, softest Merino, llama and yak. We all wish you a festive season filled with fairy lights, festive films, mince pies, spiced coffees and lots and lots of knitting.
